Borno Gov. has directed security agencies to investigate diversion of large quantities of rice

Borno Governor orders probe of alleged diversion of rice meant for feeding IDPs, blames opponents

Borno Government has directed security agencies to investigate alleged diversion of large quantities of rice meant for feeding Internally Displaced Persons in the state.
The rice, supplied by the National Emergency Management Agency for the feeding of the IDPs in the state, was allegedly diverted by some government officials.

The directive is contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Malam Isa Gasau, the Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy to Governor Kashim Shettima, in Maiduguri.
Gusau said that the governor gave the directive, while hosting heads of security agencies and members of the State Executive Council to a Ramadan breakfast at the Government House in Maiduguri.
He said that the directive followed widespread allegations that some government functionaries were diverting food supplies meant for the feeding of the IDPs to personal use.
"Governor Kashim Shettima has directed security agents to investigate and arrest anyone found culpable in the alleged diversion of rice meant for the feeding of the IDPs in the state.
"The directive followed the circulation of video clips and still pictures on social media alleging that some officials of the State Emergency Management Agency are re-bagging rice meant for the IDPs’ feeding for onward sales in the market," he said.
The special adviser said that Shettima, however, blamed the development on certain politicians who were bent on bringing down his administration at all costs.

Presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump told NBC’s

Donald Trump: Forget about the polls and the GOP infighting, I’ll win in November ‘one way or the other’

Presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump told NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday that he will win the U.S Presidential election in November 'one way or the other'.

The Billionaire businessman said everyone should forget the polls, forget the short list of important endorsements and forget the GOP infighting, that he'll win the elections.
“We're going to go onto a great victory. It would be nice if the Republicans stuck together,”

“I'm a different kind of a candidate, I think that I win either way. I can win one way or the other,” he said.
When asked specifically of the reports regarding a mutiny of the Republican delegates, Trump dismissed the chatter at once.
“Number one, they can't do it legally. Number two, I worked for one year and we won all of those delegates. And, you know, I guess I'm at almost 1,600,” he said, referring to the 1,542 delegates he’s secured. To win the nomination on the first ballot at the Republican National Convention next month and avoid a contested convention, Trump needs only 1,237 delegates.
Prominent Republican, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), said Sunday that he would stand by Trump, even if it was out of obligation in order not to create party divisions.
“I feel like I have certain responsibilities, as not just Congressman Paul Ryan from the first district of Wisconsin, but as Speaker of the House. And imagine the Speaker of the House not supporting the duly elected nominee of our party, therefore creating a chasm in our party to split us in half, which basically helps deny us the White House, and strong majorities in Congress,” Ryan said on the same NBC program.
“Now … if something is done and said that I don't agree with that I think puts a bad label on conservatism, then I'm going to speak out on it as I have, as I will continue to do, and I hope I don't have to keep doing,” added Ryan.

Two male suicide bombers killed by vigilantes in Maiduguri

The Civilian JTF in Maiduguri, Borno state this morning shot dead two male suicide bombers who attempted to attack a mosque at Kusari area near CBN Staff Quarters in Maiduguri.

According to Sahara Reporters, the suicide bombers attempted to strike the mosque after many Muslim faithfuls converged there for their early morning prayers.

A member of the Civilian JTF who spoke on the incident said
"Our elders sighted them in our community roaming around, so our they called them and tried to know their identities because their faces were strange to us. Instead, they started running, and we pursued them, shot and killed them. There were IEDs wrapped on their bodies that did not yet explode. We thank Allah for saving us from the evil men that had wanted to wreak havoc on residents of Maiduguri. It could have been deadly if they hit their target".
