Omisore sacks Osun PDP

Omisore sacks Osun PDP from party secretariat

A former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, may have sacked a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state from its secretariat situated along Osogbo-Gbongan Road.

Omisore, it was learnt, rented the party secretariat and had been the one paying rent on the property located in the heart of Osogbo, the state capital.

The tactical ejection of the faction of the PDP from the secretariat is a direct fallout of the crisis rocking the party in the state over the congresses to elect leaders of the party from ward level to state level.

While a faction of the party which has majority of the party leaders held a congress which produced Mr. Soji Adagunodo-led executives, the Dr. Bayo Faforiji faction which is enjoying the support of Omisore stayed away from the congress.

Omisore’s faction said they had got an injunction restraining the party from holding the congress.

Our correspondent gathered on Monday that the faction moved their belongings from the secretariat to a new place around Otaefun area along Ikirun Road.

A source close to Omisore confirmed the development to our correspondent on the telephone.

He said, “He (Omisore) rented this secretariat and he is the one paying the rent so there is no way those ones (other faction) can come here with what they have done.

“He did not pursue them but they also know that they can no longer come here. They have moved to Otaefun area. They have gone there to form a faction of PDP. But let us wait and see. We are still going to court tomorrow ( Tuesday).”

The newly elected secretary of the PDP in Osun State, Mr. Bola Ajao, when contacted said the party had moved to a new secretariat along Ikirun Road.

Ajao, however, declined to expatiate on the reason for the sudden rotation of the party secretariat.

Many prominent leaders of the party including a member of the Board of Trustee of the party, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun; National Secretary of the PDP, Prof. Wale Oladipo and former Chairman of Federal Road Maintenance Agency, Mr. Jide Adeniji, former Deputy Governor Olusola Obada; Senator Olu Alabi and others were present at the congress which produced Adagunodo-led executives.

The congress was supervised by a committee from the national secretariat of the party led by Justice Emmanuel Dodo (retd) and officials of Independent National Electoral Commission.

But Omisore, former Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan; member BoT, Chief Ebenezer Babatope and others shunned the congress.

British comedian, actor, TV presenter and singer Sir Lenny Henry has slammed black actors like Will Smith for refusing to stay true to their race once they become successful. He also hit out at the lack of minority actors in the Film and TV industry, labeling the BBC and the recently held Academy Awards as 'white institutions'.

The 57 year old in an interview with Sunday People said:

‘If a movie makes more than a hundred dollars, some black people stop being black – they become Will Smith.’

‘The Oscars were ridiculous. The only brown person nominated was the bear in Leo Dicaprio’s film, The Revenant.’

‘I worked at the BBC for 35 years before I had a meeting with anyone who looks like me. The only people like me were cleaning the corridors and that is not right,’ he said.

‘You walk into the Beeb and it is very, very white. That is not anybody’s fault. You can be in an oppressive institution and not be an oppressor

‘All the diversity work that has been going on is appreciated – but until – behind the camera is sorted out you are not going to see much change.’

Photo: Two Nigerians arrested at Cambodian airport for smuggling 1.27 kilos of cocaine in their stomach

According to the National Authority for Combating Drugs, two Nigerian men were arrested at Phnom Penh International Airport on Monday, May 9 for smuggling 1.27 kilograms of cocaine inside their bodies. The men identified as Okafor Ifeanyi Anthony and Adibe Paschal flew from Nigeria to Vietnam, via Qatar, and then to Cambodia, using Qatar Airways flight Q970.

"When the [authorities] detained them at the airport, he found some substances which they carried in their hands," said In Song, an official at the Anti-Drug department at the Ministry of Interior. "They carried this substance to deceive us."

"Police confiscated several bags of the mysterious brown powdered substance but it did not test positive for drugs.The drugs that they hid were in their stomach," said Song.

Police extracted the drugs by ordering the Nigerians to eat laxatives and excrete them on Tuesday and Wednesday. Song said that the Nigerians were likely bound for Pattaya in Thailand.

Herdsmen attacked Benue youths last Friday because they stole 800 cows from us - Benue herdsmen spokesman alleges

Coordinator of the Benue State Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), the association of herdsmen, Gololo Garus, says the reason for last Friday's attack by the herdsmen on residents of Agwabi village in Binev Council Ward of Buruku local government area of the state, was because the youth in the area stole 800 cattle from the herdsmen a day before the attack happened.

According to Tribune, Gololo said that information passed to him by the herdsmen claimed that trouble started when youth from the affected village on Thursday, May 12th, took away 800 cows belonging to the resident herders.

He said instead of reporting to the appropriate authorities, the herdsmen decided to take laws into their hands by fighting with the youth in the community

"The herders traced the missing cows the following day to that village and that was how trouble started. This is highly regrettable because they should have notified the security apparatus already put in place by the state government who could have handled the matter. They didn't report the matter even to us (MACBAN). It is painful that while the state government is doing everything to resolve the crisis, some others are taking the law into their hands. But, those found wanting in this matter would surely be handed over to the security agencies," he said.

Over 12 people died during the attack.

Man dies in Thailand after wild sex

Man dies in Thailand after wild sex romp with a transgender (photos)

A foreigner died in the early hours of Sunday morning, May 15 after hitting his head on a wall during a wild romp with a ladyboy (pictured with the police) in a Pattaya hotel. For those who don't know, Ladyboy is a Thai term that refers to either a transgender woman or an effeminate gay male in Thailand.

Authorities were alerted to the death at around 5am on Sunday morning and when they arrived at the second floor room of the short time hotel just off Walking Street. They found the naked body of an unidentified male, thought to be aged between 40-45, laid naked on the floor.

Also present was a 22-year-old ladyboy from Buriram who told investigators the couple had met earlier on Walking Street and had agreed a fee of 3,000 baht for short time sex.

The unnamed ladyboy said the man was very drunk and rather wild when it came to doing the horizontal mambo. She said that during their moment of passion the man banged his head on the wall and fell to the floor.

The body was sent for autopsy and police are now trying to identify the man.

Investigators said the man likely tripped due to his intoxicated state causing him to injure himself, however, they will await the results of the autopsy to determine the exact cause of death before questioning the ladyboy further.

Jailed footballer Adam Johnson banned from speaking to his baby daughter

The Ex-Sunderland and England footballer was found guilty this year of sexual activity with an underage fan after he previously admitted grooming the school girl, 15 and was sentenced to prison for 6 years, and according to The Sun UK, he's been banned from talking to his 17 month old daughter Ayla according to his sex Offenders' order.

According to The Sun, his ex-partner Stacey Flounders will occasionally call Johnson and give the phone to Ayla so the footballer could hear his daughter and speak to her, but he was caught the last time by police, who have taken away such priviledges away from him.

A source told the Sun: ‘Johnson did not realise he would be listened to, and that he was doing something wrong. But they have come down hard on him. He’s devastated.’

‘With the ban on seeing Ayla and the pictures from Dubai, Johnson is extremely low.’

The footballer, 28, has reportedly lost prison privileges such as watching TV channels and social time.
